About messageGP

What is messageGP?

messageGP is a CQC-registered private GP service based in England. We provide convenient, high-quality medical care through video consultations, phone appointments, WhatsApp, home visits, wellbeing health checks, weight management programmes, and IV drip therapy. We're built around the idea that good healthcare should feel personal, accessible, and unhurried — more like the family doctor of old, brought into the modern era.

Are you a real GP service?

Yes. messageGP is registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) — the independent body that regulates health and social care services in England. All of our doctors are NHS-trained and GMC-registered, with extensive experience in general practice. This is a fully regulated private medical service, not a subscription app or symptom checker.

Is this an NHS service?

No. messageGP is a private paid-for service. We are not part of the NHS and our consultations are not free at the point of use. However, all of our doctors have trained and worked within the NHS, and we follow the same clinical standards and guidelines.

Can I use messageGP alongside my NHS GP?

Yes, absolutely. Many of our patients use messageGP alongside their NHS care — for faster access, a second opinion, or for services that aren't readily available on the NHS. With your permission, we can also write to your NHS GP to keep them informed of your care.

Where are you based?

Our doctors are local to the communities they serve, covering Wiltshire, Swindon, the Cotswolds, and Oxfordshire for in-person and at-home services. Online consultations via WhatsApp, phone, and video are available to patients across England.

How quickly can I get an appointment?

In most cases we can see you the same day or next day. If you send us a WhatsApp to enquire, we aim to respond within four hours — usually much sooner.

Our Services

What services does messageGP offer?

We offer a wide range of services including private GP consultations by WhatsApp, phone, or video; GP home visits; at-home blood tests; wellbeing health checks with a doctor-led review; GP-led weight management including Mounjaro and Wegovy; IV drip therapy at home; and The Club by messageGP — our private GP membership for individuals and families.

Do you offer face-to-face appointments?

Yes. For patients in Wiltshire, Swindon, the Cotswolds, and Oxfordshire, we offer GP home visits and at-home services. If you're not sure whether we cover your area, just send us a WhatsApp and we'll confirm.

What conditions can you treat?

Our doctors can assess and manage a very wide range of conditions — from everyday illnesses and infections to skin conditions, women's health, men's health, mental health, digestive issues, musculoskeletal problems, and more. If we feel your condition needs in-person assessment or specialist input, we'll always tell you honestly and help guide you to the right next step.

Can you arrange referrals and prescriptions?

Yes. If clinically appropriate, our doctors can issue electronic prescriptions that are sent directly to your local pharmacy, and arrange private specialist referrals. We can also write sick notes, letters, and other medical documentation as needed.

Can you access my NHS medical records?

With your consent, we can request a summary of your NHS records to inform your care. We can also write to your NHS GP after a consultation if you'd like them to be kept informed.

How quickly will I get a reply on WhatsApp?

We aim to respond to all WhatsApp messages within four hours during normal working hours — and in practice it's usually much sooner. For most patients, we can arrange a same-day or next-day consultation from the point of first contact.

Booking & Costs

How do I book an appointment?

The easiest way is to send us a WhatsApp message at 03300 432208 — just tell us a little about what you need and we'll get you booked in quickly.

How much does a consultation cost?

A standard GP consultation is £49, which includes the consultation itself and any prescriptions, sick notes, or letters generated as a result. Medication costs are paid separately at the pharmacy. For a full breakdown of our pricing, visit our pricing page at messagegp.com.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept payment by card through our secure online payment system. Payment is typically taken at the time of booking.

Safety & Security

Is it safe to share my medical information over WhatsApp?

We understand this is a natural concern, and it's one worth answering properly. messageGP does not operate through a standard WhatsApp account. We use a WhatsApp API — a business-grade platform designed for organisations that need secure, compliant, and accountable communication.

That said, we always recommend using your own personal device with a secure passcode, and keeping your WhatsApp account protected with two-step verification.

How do you store the information I share?

Any medical information you share with us through WhatsApp is handled in accordance with UK data protection law (UK GDPR) and our Privacy Policy. Clinical records are stored securely in our regulated clinical system, not within WhatsApp itself. You can read our full Privacy Policy at messagegp.com.

What if I have an emergency?

WhatsApp is not a channel for emergencies. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 999 or go to your nearest A&E immediately. For urgent but non-emergency concerns, please call 111.

Weight Management

Do you offer weight loss injections?

Yes. We offer GP-led weight management programmes using GLP-1 medications including Mounjaro and Wegovy. All treatment is prescribed and supervised by one of our doctors, following a thorough medical assessment to confirm eligibility and safety.

What makes your weight management programme different?

Our programme is genuinely doctor-led — not a prescription service with minimal clinical oversight. Your doctor takes the time to understand your health, your goals, and any relevant medical factors. We do your first injection together with you over a video call, so you're never left to figure it out alone, and you have direct WhatsApp access to your doctor for questions, side effects, or support throughout.

How do I know if I'm eligible?

Eligibility for GLP-1 medications depends on a number of clinical factors including BMI, health history, and current medications. The best first step is to visit our eligibility checker on the website or to send us a WhatsApp — we'll help you work out whether this is the right option for you.

Wellbeing Checks & Blood Tests

What is a wellbeing health check?

Our wellbeing health check combines a comprehensive set of blood tests with a GP-led review of your results. Rather than just receiving a printout of numbers, you'll have a proper conversation with your doctor about what the results mean and what, if anything, you should do next. It's a proactive way to understand your health and catch anything worth addressing early.

Can I get blood tests done at home?

Yes. For patients throughout England, we can arrange for blood samples to be taken at your home by a trained medical professional. Samples are sent to an accredited UK laboratory and results are reviewed by a doctor who will explain them clearly.

IV Drip Therapy

What is IV drip therapy?

IV (intravenous) therapy involves delivering a combination of vitamins, minerals, and fluids directly into the bloodstream through a small cannula, usually placed in the arm. This bypasses the digestive system, meaning nutrients are available for the body to use straight away.

Is it safe?

All IV therapy at messageGP is doctor-led. Before any treatment takes place, one of our doctors will carry out a health assessment to review your suitability. Treatments are administered by qualified doctors at your home. IV therapy is not suitable for everyone, which is exactly why a medical assessment comes first.

Where do you provide IV therapy?

IV drip therapy is available at home across Wiltshire, Swindon, the Cotswolds, and Oxfordshire. If you're unsure whether we cover your area or want to learn more, feel free to send us a WhatsApp.

Is IV therapy a substitute for medical treatment?

No. IV therapy is not a substitute for a healthy diet, lifestyle, or medical treatment for a diagnosed condition. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are taking medication, please let our doctors know during your initial consultation.
